China condemns attack on Cuban Embassy, failed invasion of Venezuela

Beijing, May 6 (Prensa Latina) China on Wednesday condemned the recent attack with an assault rifle on the Cuban Embassy in the United States, a frustrated invasion of Venezuela and all interfering maneuvers against any country’s sovereignty.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying told Prensa Latina that her Government strongly opposes all violent actions against official representations.

She called on Washington to take the measures necessary to guarantee the due protection of embassies and diplomatic personnel on US territory from any damage, as established by the 1961 Vienna Convention.

That way, China joined other countries and organizations that condemned last Thursday’s shooting against the Cuban Embassy in Washington.

In response to Prensa Latina, Hue also condemned the attempted naval invasion of Venezuela by mercenary forces with the objective of creating chaos and stage a coup d’état against Constitutional President Nicolas Maduro.

She expressed rejection of the violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty by any means or excuse, and called to prioritize the people’s wellbeing, work together to safeguard national stability and promote a peaceful solution to the situation there.

China recently criticized that Washington implements more extraterritorial sanctions against Venezuela, Cuba and Iran to the detriment of the people’s health, just when the Covid-19 pandemic is spreading worldwide.
