HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 14 (acn) We are starting taking a road that is very promising, said Cardinal Jaime Ortega, top Cuban catholic church figure, after the flag-raising ceremony at the US embassy in Havana.
When speaking of the moment of the bilateral relations between the two countries he said that what we are witnessing today is a historical event.
Ortega said his private meeting with US Secretary of State had been really good.
He considered this process of normalization of relations is irreversible and that the Church can contribute more especially when Pope Francis visits both nations next September
The Cuban Cardinal praised the role played by His Holiness in this process.
Regarding the Pope´s visit to Cuba, Ortega said preparations are going very well, and that, Cuban believers are happy and excited about this visit
