Calls in Belgium to endorse Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctors

Brussels, May 14 (Prensa Latina) The Belgian association launched an online campaign to promote the delivery of the Nobel Peace Prize to Cuban medical brigades, who are present in the fight against Covid-19 on various continents.

Cuba has shown the world what true solidarity is in these times of coronavirus by sending health professionals to the entire world; Even the richest region in Italy, Lombardy, has been able to count on its concrete support, the organization stressed in its call to support the initiative.

According to, Cuba’s doctors save lives, and that is why they deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

The president of the Belgian association, Isabelle Vanbrabant, told Prensa Latina that the petition has already been signed by some 170 people, despite the fact that the campaign has just been launched.

‘Let’s not forget that Cuba has an economy 10 times smaller than that of Belgium and that it suffers from a criminal economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which literally deprives (the Cubans) of oxygen,’ stated.

In this sense, she recalled that Washington’s blockade reaches the point of preventing Cuba from buying ventilators, key equipment to treat the most serious Covid-19 patients.

Cuba’s international medical assistance shows us a very important question: solidarity is not about giving what we have left over, it’s about sharing what we have with those in need, because regardless of our differences, we are all human, she stressed.
