Brazilian Parliamentarians Demand End of US Blockade on Cuba

Brasilia, Aug 29.- The Parliamentarian Front of support to Cuba, from the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul, demanded the end of economic, financial and Commercial blockade of US against the Caribbean island.

In a letter signed by 25 legislators members of the Front is also call for the closure of the US base in Guantanamo, illegally occupied, and the return of that territory to its owners, the Cuban people.

The letter, made by the José Martí Cultural Association of Rio Grande do Sul, will be sent to the United States Congress to demand an end to the policy of hostility towards the Greater Antilles.

Congressman Juliano Roso, president of the parliamentary state group, distinguished the courage of the Cubans, who for over half a century face the harmful actions of a despicable policy of the White House and achieved significant progress in the areas of health and education.

Despite the fierce US blockade, which does not allow the Cubans access to credit and advanced technologies, the economy of the island managed to gain progress and and provide better conditions for the inhabitants of that island, he stressed.

I think that now, after the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana actions must be intensified to demand the end of that economic, commercial and financial blockade, he assured.(Prensa Latina)
