Havana, May 3 (Prensa Latina) A group of 42 animals of 13 species are already in Cuba as part of an exchange with the Guatemalan zoo La Aurora, said today sources from Cuban national zoo.
The group of animals include three Bengal tigers, scimitar oryx antelopes and various primate species: spider monkey, capuchin monkey and olive baboon, among others.
According to the National Zoological Park Complex (CPZN), some of the species donated increase the exhibitions of the different zoos in the country.
The group of animals include various species of birds, as black swans and parrots.
The CPZN said that this donation was outlined during the Congress of the Latin American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums (ALPZA) held in Colombia in 2016.
Once this stage of arrival, reception and quarantine has been completed, similar exchanges will be carried out with Mexican zoos, said CPZN.
