Santiago de Cuba, Dec 3.- The 31st International Festival of Choirs opened on Wednesday until Sunday with the presence of 14 Cuban groups, as well as choirs from Australia, Sweden, United States and Switzerland.
At the Concert Hall Dolores, main venue of the event, the opening concert will be performed as a tribute to the Coro Madrigalista, founded 100 years ago and oldest in the country, with the performance of its members, as well as singers from the Orquesta Sinfonica de Oriente and Orquesta Sinfonica de Cuerdas, accompanied by guitarist Aquiles Jorge.
The Cantorias Infantiles, an initiative fostered by Electo Silva, National Music Award Winner and founder of Orfeon Santiago, will be present in the opening day of the festival, as symbol of the validity and continuity of this music style.
The event, held in this city since 1961 and organized by Silva, will take place in different scenarios like churches, the Museum of Music and premises of various groups from Santiago, among others. (Prensa Latina)
